Earlier, it was reported that three crew members were injured in the incident and hospitalized in Grosetto.

Ship owner Costa Crociere S.p.A assured the Philippine Embassy in Rome “that it will give full compensation to the Filipino crew members, refund their lost belongings, replace their lost cash, and issue a formal letter of undertaking detailing the company’s firm commitment.”

In preparation for their flight to the Philippines, the Filipino seafarers are being issued travel documents free of charge by embassy staff at the La Fattoria, Granduca and Terme hotels in Grosetto.
