Voluntary exit program for illegals in Korea up to Oct 31

The Korean Immigration Service has extended its voluntary exit program for illegal stayers in the country until October 31, 2010, according to Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) news.

“This is a welcome development,” said Labor and Employment Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz, adding that the DOLE is grateful for South Korea’s gesture of goodwill. Read more

OFW found dead in plane toilet

An overseas Filipino worker (OFW) from Abu Dhabi was found dead inside the toilet of a Gulf Air plane that had just landed in the country last Wednesday morning.

According to a Philippine Daily Inquirer report, the OFW was identified as Marlon Cueva, 36, originally from Lubang Island in Mindoro Occidental. He worked as an electrician for three months in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Read more
