Dutch ship owners prefer all-Filipino crew

Ship owners in the Netherlands want an all-Filipino crew in their vessels, said the Dutch ambassador to the Philippines Robert Brinks during the reception of the 11th meeting of the Philippines-Netherlands Joint Committee on Maritime Affairs early this week.

More OWWA health benefits for OFWs in Misamis Oriental

A hospital wing at a Misamis Oriental hospital will be used for Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) members, their families and distressed overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who need medical treatment for illnesses contracted while working abroad.
According to OWWA news, Misamis Oriental Governor Oscar Moreno and OWWA Administrator Carmelita S Dimzon signed an agreement for this project last week. Read more

UK official praises OFWs

New British Foreign Secretary William Hague recognized the “considerable” contribution of 250,000 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in the United Kingdom (UK), especially those in the health and care sectors.
According to a Philippine Daily Inquirer report, Hague welcomed the presence of the OFWs in a letter to Foreign Affairs Secretary Alberto Romulo, saying they helped to strengthen Philippine-UK relations. Read more
