The Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM) will award one medical scholarship to a Filipino student for school year 2010-2011, according to Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) news.
To qualify, the applicant must be a high school graduate with outstanding academic background, and must possess a valid passport. Read more
UST Singers win in Poland

The University of Santo Tomas (UST) Singers did the country proud again by winning all the major prizes in the recently concluded 6th International Choir Festival Mundus Cantat in Sopot, Poland.
According to Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) news, the festival was held from May 19 to 23. Other participating choirs were from France, Norway, Singapore, Slovakia, Sweden, Ukraine and host Poland. Read more

Cheaper remittance transactions by Q3 2010 — BSP

Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) will benefit from a cheaper remittance processing fee of P50 by the third quarter of this year, said the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) in a media release.
The settlement of remittances through the Philippine Payments and Settlements System (PhilPaSS) Remit System will be completely operational by the third quarter. Read more

The University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley) awarded the prestigious Elise and Walter A Haas International Award to outgoing Supreme Court of the Philippines Chief Justice Reynato S Puno last May 16.

According to news from the Professional Regulations Commission (PRC), Gecel Gabucan Codera of the University of San Jose-Recoletos topped the exam with a rating of 93.14%. Read more
