Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) head Jennifer Jardin Manalili issued the following public notice, available on the POEA website:

OFWs in Italy should get an exit pass

Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) going home for the Holy Week should get an exit pass to avoid any hassles when they return to Italy, according to an ABS-CBN News report.
Labor Attache Chona Mantilla said that an exit pass serves as proof that the OFW is a legal worker in Italy and that he is entitled to the benefits given by government to OFWs. The bearer of an exit pass is also exempt from paying travel tax. Read more
NBI warns OFWs about illegal recruiters

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) warned about illegal recruiters after six Canada-bound individuals were allegedly duped into paying almost P1 million in fees, according to a Manila Bulletin report.
The suspect, Ma. Ruby Socorro de Guzman, has already been charged by the NBI with syndicated estafa and large-scale illegal recruitment, and qualified theft. Read more
Italy may get more foreign nurses

The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) announced details of the registration for the Korean Employment Permit System-Korean Language Test (EPS-KLT) in April.
Passing the KLT is an important step before applicants can qualify to be included in the List of Jobseekers from which Korean employers can electronically select workers to be offered jobs in the manufacturing and construction sectors under the foreign labor quota for 2010. Read more

A Roman Catholic bishop from Paris met with local church officials to strengthen the collaboration between “the sending and receiving churches” of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and other Filipino migrants in France.
