13 Filipinos in Panamanian ship rescued

Thirteen Filipino seafarers were rescued after the Panamanian cargo ship Dany F II sank off the coast of Tripoli, Lebanon last week due to a storm.
According to news from the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), two Filipino casualties were reported, 3rd Engineer Alex Crisostomo and Manuel Calaor, whose remains were found in Lattakia, a town 375 kilometers off Damascus. Meanwhile, six Filipinos are still missing. Read more
Ship with 14 Filipinos released by Somali pirates

Somali pirates freed Greek-owned MV Delvina and its crew including 14 Filipino seafarers last week.
According to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), the Philippine Embassy in Nairobi said the Filipinos are safe and in good health. The vessel and its crew are now heading to Mombasa. Read more

Online registration for EPS and JPEPA applicants

The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) has advised that all applicants for the Employment Permit System-Korean Language Test (EPS-KLT) and the Japan-Philippines Economic Partnership Agreement (JPEPA) are required to register online at http://www.eregister.poea.gov.ph/ereg/ereg.asp.
Those who want to apply for a job in Korea under the Employment Permit System should first pass the language test. EPS-KLT applicants can only be allowed to pay for the language test after online registration. Read more
