ASEAN removes work barriers for professionals

Filipino doctors, dentists and accountants may soon be able to practice their profession anywhere in the ASEAN region.
Ministers of the Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam signed mutual recognition arrangements (MRAs) on these professions last Monday, the eve of the 40th ASEAN Economic Ministers and Related Meetings in Singapore. Read more

RP calls for suspension of KSA unified contract

The Philippine government is asking for the indefinite suspension of the “unified contract rule” that was supposed to be implemented by the Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Manila last August 1, a news report said.
“We are asking for indefinite suspension and a discussion on the possible negative effects of the rule,” said Administrator Rosalinda Baldoz of the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) in an interview with INQUIRER.net. Read more
